HK becoming more Mainland

Any other punters concerned or have thoughts about our hobby and surveillance of illicit activities bleeding over to what we do? Now that internet communications can be handed over. Just curious of others’ thoughts...

I didn't do anything illegal so nothing to worry about. If Punting becomes illegal, we probably have to pretend wg are our friends and donate $ instead of transaction. Not sure how they do it in China.

An example, Hong Kong is going to launch its own QR health code in the near future. If it doesn't follow the exact system in China, we won't have any privacy concern at least right now. Let's  see.

Unlike Twice, my simple answer is YES.
Hong Kong is becoming more Mainland China, so is the rest of the world. But what is wrong with that?

Blackmailing is already prevalent for top executives/politicians that indulge on a business trip in China.
If you're a random nobody I doubt they would use that, after all it's not illegal on that side of the border and it's a great source of foreign currencies, they've always been quite relaxed at exporting girls.

Yes, HK’s tax system is about to get a huge PRC overhaul. You’re about to be hit with 45% tax rates for high income earners. And with house prices in HK as they are, HK people are about to get a reality check.

Absolutely, they have plans to get rid of all the Phillipinoes maids in HK.
The grey business in trade seems to be clamped down on.
while the gray area is being promoted.

The difference? High end escorts is OK. While the low end go Yellow.
It's going to get worse in HK. Expect punts and puns to get expensive.

Scammers thrive here. They already are.

Will this include foreign residents? Currently the reopened Guangdog-Macau re-opening is only for Chinese and Macau nationals.

You guys in HK enjoy one of the most plentiful, cheap and diverse punting landscapes in the world, and im amazed how many of you don't realize that it will indeed end now.  Have you all never visited China?  The scene sucks (no pun intended) in Shanghai and Beijing.  Yes, you can find options, but they're much more secretive, and quality is much lower for a higher price.  Change is inevitable at this point, I'd guess.

I think so if foreign residents can go to Guangdong via Shenzhen nowadays. But there is a quota, l don’t think normal people can apply in the beginning of the scheme.
Under the proposed new scheme, Guangdong will recognise the PCR test results conducted in Hong Kong and Hong Kong residents don’t have to quarantine for 14 days.

Haven't heard of a quota but definitely foreign devils have a hard time passing the border...seems there are some exceptions but no idea how to apply for one.

The only people that say nothing has changed are usually people who are very invested in either HK or China (business and property), it's more wishful thinking than anything else.

So when can Hong Kong residents travel to Guangzhou without having to quarantine for 14 days?

No one is saying nothing has changed. Changes are plentiful indeed but what’s the problem with that? We are almost at the midway of the 50 year grace period. If it’s a movie trilogy we should be in the second act of the sequel. Don’t tell me you expect everything will stay the same. Disclaimer: I do not have any investment in Hong Kong, China or anywhere in the world. My pretentiousness is my only asset. For one, I do not have any problem with a chinese Hong Kong.

Nobody knows when the restriction will lift. Now, you need a PCR negative result tested within 72 hours to pass the check point. Then 14 days hotel quarantine.
