to make it simpler, the quote function puts whatever you put in between (quote)and(/quote) into a quote. But NOTE that you need to replace ( ) with square brackets [ ] instead, for it to work. In that example, 'and' would be the word/sentence quoted into a separate box.

Thanks everyone for the info regarding the dress codes in Wanchai bars/clubs. These forum boards has been such an excellent source of information - I've been reading posts and FAQs on this board for the past 2 months in preparation for only a 10 day trip LOL. I feel like I've been to Hong Kong already (this will be my first trip). This place is definitely the Library of Congress for mongering in HK. The wealth of information available here really helps me utilize what little bit of time I have in HK.

A few years back I went to Shanghai for a business trip. Did no research about mongering beforehand, but intended to attempt to meet a few WG's while there. How hard could it possibly be to wing it? I went to a massage parlor near my hotel (touristy area) and upon my attempts to solicit extra services, the masseuse stared me down like I'm some sort of "ham sup low". Well to be fair - I guess I am a "ham sup low" in this case. So after the akward stares she gave me, I played it off as a joke and left quickly after 5 more minutes of massage. Stubborn and undeterred, I went to a 2nd massage place that same night also requesting some extra services.......and was shown the door to leave shortly after. While walking back to my hotel - I get solicited by this shady thick chinese guy, with what appears to be a giant knife scar on his right cheek, to come with him to a location that has some hot ladies action. As enticing as his business slogan was - "fancy pussy la...", I just got a bad vibe from him and was not interested in getting robbed that night. So wraps up my horrific attempts at mongering a few years back in the mainland.

This time...this time, it will be different! I have done my proper research and even freaking packed extra sets of clubbing appropiate clothes and GPS bookmarked sauna/walkup locations in my IPad (offmaps). I am determined not to fail this time!

You can click on that [quote] button, it does the same thing, but it has some limitations to it.

1) when you click on it, there is a limit to the number of words or characters it will bring into the quote so sometimes if its long, it will just cut off

2) [quote] just takes the whole reply whereas sometimes you only want to quote a single sentence from the middle of a reply, it is usually easier and faster to just copy and then paste within the quote parameters rather than clicking on [quote] and then deleting what you don't need.

Before the internet, I would usually approach the concierge of the better business hotels to inquire about the clubs/bars where the foreigners go to. Once I find a happening bar among the recommendations, I would usually stay until the end enjoying myself, drinking, and chatting with others. If I am lucky someone (another expat, bar manager, bar staff, or a friendly local) will tell me where to go for girls after the bar/club closes. Makes a biz trip more fun when I discover something this way.

hi picky, i found it confusing at first too. u want to use the word "quote"...BUT, if u put that in the instructions, it activates the function and u get the QUOTE-BOX, and the instructions i use disappear.

it's an HTML tag: u instruct the computer to turn ON a feature with an instruction, then turn it OFF with a slash mark: "/". if you edit yr posts, highlight a word and click on the B for "bold," you see the HTML instructions appear front/back of the word.

like:
Physical Styles
<b>This text is bold</b>
<i>This text is italic</i>

the reason you can SEE the tags is this system doesn't use the same HTML, it wants square brackets. so i can type:
<quote>This is the text i want in the quote box.</quote>

if you cut that, and use [] brackets instead of the <>, it will work. if it doesn't look right, edit or delete and try again.

don't worry, you'll get it! anyway, your reports and pix are the main thing. always glad to hear from u.

Maybe I have missed them, but I dont see any reports about specific WanChai Bargirls.  As this is my primary punting method (the bar scene), I wondered why?

So, is it on-form or off-form to write reports on a specific bargirl, with her "barname" (and a pic if available)?  After thiinking about it I realize that unlike perfectly legal walk-up girls, the bargirls are on a bit of legal "edge".  If they are on a tourist visa they cannot be found to be working in any manner - and those little drink-commission slips are used against them if an LE choose to be a dick.  So maybe we need to be careful about protecting them on here.  Certainly if they are over-staying their Visa (as many do) they would panic as well.

Some of you may say that such reports would be pointless, as they rotate back home so quickly - but they all seem to come back to HK regularily, in my experience:  here for 2-4 weeks, extend for 1-2 weeks;  back home for a month or two; then back here again.  So, the info would still be relevant.

I am not sure:  is this a good idea or a stupid one?
