#1 Post at 29-6-2012 06:45  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Google Apps in Mainland China I am currently in Shanghai.  Google Maps is just straight out totally unreachable.  Both on my PC and phone.  As near as just a few weeks ago it worked fine on my phone.  About the same time, gmail stopped pushing to my phone (would only push randomly once or twice a day).  Got so bad I had to download a new email client app.  It is so bad that I can't even load the Google App store on my phone any longer.  Had to download the app through my PC. I know all about the firewall, but I never used to have any problems with my phone.  Anyone else experiencing similar problems, Shanghai or elsewhere in China? I cannot live without Maps.  Is there another English language map app that anyone recommends?

Maps worked great on my phone up until a couple of weeks ago.  How the hell is one supposed to monger without a good map tool, I ask? My phone is the original Google phone by HTC, the Nexus One.

Shortly after making the OP, I received an update on my phone for Google Maps.  Miraculously, it started working again.  When it works it is a great tool.  I find it much less stressful wandering around China when I know I will never be lost. So glad I did not do a factory reset, which causes you lose all of you non-factory loaded apps (I think).
