Out of curiosity, for the bros punting around SZ, virus aside, is the scene still like that ? Is it really so 'out in the open' with those brothel towns around SZ ? Really wondering if the video represent the current reality around china. A few yyears ago the area that I was living became a bit of a hot spot for this stuff, so I counted about 15 very obviously 'special services' shops around my compound. That has since changed but I've stumbled upon a few pockets like that in different areas around the city randomly. It definitely doesn't feel as 'out in the open' but you'll still get approached by agents, still receive dodgy business cards and occasionally come across a small shop that has no space to function as it appears.

#3 Post at 23-8-2020 21:25  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L I have been in Shenzhen for the last 2 years and for the most part prostitution in Shenzhen/Dongguan has been severely impacted since the big Dongguan crackdown in 2014 and the constant Police raids which occur regularly. A lot of it has been driven underground and that video would of been more true circa 2015. You can still find cards near some major hotels though but it is very hush hush prices are much higher then in HK and the selection is very slim. Shenzhen/Dongguan used to be dodgy sex capitals rivaling Thailand where guys from HKwould have mistresses, but they have since cleaned up their reputations in the last several years much to my disappointment!

#5 Post at 24-8-2020 13:00  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Been to SZ numerous times, definitely not "out in the open" like that, at least not everywhere.  This video might be dated, or a very specific location in SZ.  As for those prostitution cards, I've only gotten them under the hotel door if traveling with another male friend, and its not a crazy amount, maybe like 1-2 cards with a number and a photo of a girl.  Definitely havent gotten them if ever traveling with females.

These days you're lucky if you can find some aunties in Shazui, the village he mentions. As Rocketeer said Shenzhen and Dongguan (Changping town) are pretty much dead. Actually, there's still some 'brothel town' activity around Shenzhen (Dongguan Humen town and Huizhou) but it's not as widely advertised as Changping and the villages in Futian and Luohu were.
