interesting topic. think of it: how many of us have jobs where approx 25% of our days feature a biological event that significantly impacts our work.
i knew a gal who worked a go-go bar in Bangkok, she told me the mamasan wd give them medication that slowed or halted their periods. u know how bargirls are, who knows how much truth is involved, but after she left the bar and got off this med, she says her periods returned with fervor. this i knew to be true cuz i was calling her to come over!
if women live together, their periods synchronize in a matter of months. this is rarely mentioned, but in the excellent documentary about 70s chick-glam-pseudopunk band The Runaways, one of them brings it up, as it made their touring lives even worse. only one woman i've ever met claimed she cd detect the smell of menstrual blood (she was a medstudent from the USA, scary-smart and uninhibited), but perhaps there's a pheromone that syncs up women living together. lends a new edge to those Women-In-Prison movies,dunnit!
